Terms of Service

When it comes to terms of service when using social media most of the time people do not actually read them and just select accept and go about there day. But did you know that when using some social media services such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google that when you post videos and photos that they can use them for whatever they want. The content that you post belongs to you, but Facebook can use it and give other people the right to use it as well (Mashable). Another thing that comes with social media use is that of expression, people go online to social media places and post about their thoughts and ideas. When you post something on Facebook for example they can suspend or terminate your account. “If we determine that you have violated our terms or policies, we may take action against your account to protect our community and services, including by suspending access to your account or disabling it” (Facebook).

Censorship

Thanks for joining me!

Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton

Mark Zuckerberg Supreme Court Trial

Facebook is a multi-billion dollar company which has the power to control what they share through the site. The bias that Facebook has chosen is to censor conservative and right leaning thoughts. This is essentially taken away their freedom of speech on this platform. Facebook is believed to have an anti-conservative bias, but Zuckerberg claims that they’re working to take the bias out of the equation. Zuckerberg wants Facebook to be a platform for all ideas instead of censoring others. “I have a very specific definition of censorship. Censorship must be done by the government or it’s not censorship.” (Penn Jillette)
